A Ride to Remember – The KSS Air Ambulance Charity Ride

On a sun-dappled morning in the Kent countryside, riders of all ages and abilities gathered for a very special cause – the KSS Air Ambulance Charity Ride, hosted across the stunning grounds of the Bilsington Priory Estate. With rolling fields, ancient woodlands, and historic bridleways as the backdrop, the event proved to be more than just a success – it was a community triumph.
A Stunning Setting for a Worthy Cause

Bilsington Priory, a place known for its serenity and timeless beauty, welcomed nearly 200 riders who turned out in support of Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance (KSS). The estate’s private trails and open landscapes provided a safe, scenic, and exhilarating ride for participants, many of whom commented that the route was “One of the most beautiful they’d ever ridden.” From leisurely hacks to those who hungered for ‘the need for speed’, the event catered to everyone, making it a true celebration of both equestrianism and community spirit.
Raising Funds, Raising Hope

Thanks to the generosity of riders, sponsors, and supporters, the event raised an impressive £12,000 for the KSS Air Ambulance, helping to fund life-saving missions and critical care support throughout the region. Every pound raised goes directly toward keeping the helicopter flying and the medics ready, making a real difference in emergency response across the South East. As one of the event managers explained, “You have to put the funds raised into context. This £12,000 will fund four launches of the helicopter on what could be four life-saving operations.”
A Day to Celebrate Community

Beyond the ride itself, the day was filled with moments of connection. Families and friends gathered to cheer on loved ones, enjoy refreshments cooked to order on the BBQ, and learn more about the essential work of the KSS. Volunteers, local businesses, and the Bilsington Priory team all came together to make the day smooth and enjoyable for all involved. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who made this event such a success: The incredible riders who took part and fundraised; The dedicated team at KSS Air Ambulance; All the volunteers and marshalls who kept everyone safe on the day; The team at Bilsington Priory Estate for generously opening up the estate and supporting the cause.
Looking Ahead
Due to the overwhelming success and positive feedback, the teams are already looking to reprise the event in 2026. With interest already expressed, the future looks bright for a tradition that not only celebrates our countryside and equestrian community but also helps save lives. Stay tuned here and on our social media platforms for updates on future rides. If you’d like to get involved, volunteer, or sponsor, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Because every step, trot, and canter taken at Bilsington Priory brought us one step closer to saving a life.
